Who it’s Intended for 

This programme is designed for a broad spectrum of health care workers who would benefit from a greater understanding of how to manage and control all infection risks by adopting fundamental hygiene principles.

The Award 

The programme is a level 2 Qualification on the National Qualifications Framework and is Accredited and Certificated by ASET. The programme is supported by the Infection Control Nurses Association (ICNA).

Aims and Objectives 

This distance learning programme has been devised in order to promote awareness of infection and contamination issues. With the very real concerns associated with dangers such as MRSA, this is an invaluable grounding in the general safeguards that can be employed to reduce the risks posed by infection.

Waste Management in the Control of Infection

General equipment / Specimen collection and handling / Food hygiene / Changing beds & laundry disposal / Cross infection / Death of a client.

Progression Potential 

The course supports a progression to study for NVQ Care Level 2 / 3 and NVQ Promoting Independence Level 3.

At the end of the course you will receive an award issued by Stonebridge Associated College. If however you would like to gain the full ASET accreditation for the course it will be necessary to complete one additional final examination, this examination can be done from home/work. The cost of gaining the full ASET accreditation will be a further £25.00 in addition to the price quoted above.
